Distance learning is particularly useful for students who cannot easily attend regular programs.

The Open University (UK) has over 9000 students with a disability, health condition, mental health difficulty or specific learning difficulty (such as dyslexia) study at the OU. They offer a wide range of support services and facilities.  They support arrangements for tutorials, examinations and residential schools, and the provision of equipment.

The Virtual University (Pakistan) is said to have a number of disabled students.
