Criteria for selecting students for participation:

1.  Independent thought: the student will (be ready to try to) use initiative, can express their needs and tell others how they prefer to do things.  
2. Active group participation
   
3. Empathy with others, and able to argue from the point of view of someone different
4. Enough knowledge of spoken English to follow a discussion.  Willingness to participate and express ideas is more important than English vocabulary and grammar knowledge.
